Get ready as Disney hints at a sequel to the beloved classic, The Devil Wears Prada. Yes, you read that right—a sequel for the fashion-savvy film is reportedly in the initial stages of production. This news comes nearly two decades after the original film captivated audiences worldwide.

The original screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, and producer Wendy Finerman are both on board for this new project, adding credibility and excitement. Their involvement gives us hope that the sequel will be as successful as its predecessor.

The film’s buzz heightened after the original cast—Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway—reunited on stage at the SAG Awards earlier this year. While there is no official word on casting yet, fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Streep and Hathaway as the iconic duo, Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs.

According to Puck, the sequel may focus on Priestly maintaining her role as Editor-in-Chief of Runway Magazine amidst the decline of traditional publishing. In a twist, Miranda must confront her former assistant Emily, now a powerful executive at a luxury brand. The plot suggests Emily’s company holds the key advertising dollars Runway needs, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown.

Interestingly, there is no mention of protagonist Andy Sachs, who secured a prestigious job at a New York newspaper by the end of the first film. In a recent interview with E!, Anne Hathaway expressed doubt about her character’s continuation in the story.

While Disney has yet to officially confirm the sequel, excitement is palpable.
