HBO has finally unveiled the premiere date for the highly anticipated second season of “The Last of Us,” confirming its arrival in April. The announcement, made during Sony’s CES 2025 press conference, was accompanied by a thrilling new trailer that offers a glimpse into the darker, more complex territory the series will explore.

Based on the critically acclaimed Naughty Dog game series, “The Last of Us” Season 2 will delve deeper into the aftermath of Joel’s devastating actions in the first season finale (If you don’t remember, it’s worth a rewatch before the new series starts).

Ellie and Joel attempt to forge a new life in Jackson, but the consequences of his choices begin to unravel, casting a long shadow over their fragile peace.

The new season, filmed across seven episodes in Canada, promises a more linear narrative compared to the intricate gameplay of its source material. It will introduce Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, a pivotal character from the games and whose presence will irrevocably alter the lives of Joel and Ellie. Abby’s voice can be heard in the trailer, hinting at the intense conflict that lies ahead. (please don’t do this HBO… PLEASE!!!!)

Returning to reprise their roles are Bella Ramsey as Ellie and Pedro Pascal as Joel, alongside a stellar supporting cast including Gabriel Luna, Rutina Wesley, Young Manzino, Isabela Merced, Jeffrey Isaac, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Danny Ramirez, and Catherine O’Hara.

“The Last of Us” Season 2 is set for release in April and will be watched in Australia via Binge.
