An osprey from the Port Lincoln barge, fondly called ‘Mum’, is now a staple on the Yorke Peninsula as well as the Eyre Peninsula.

A nine-panel photographic mural of the beloved bird is now immortalised on the museum building in Price.

The photo taken by Fran Solly has been overlayed with a drone image from Lauren Clift and depicts the rare eastern osprey with her chicks.

Price was one of the first YP towns to build an artificial osprey platform, providing the endangered birds with a safe place to nest.

In May and June this year, more platforms were built for the Eyre Peninsula – new platforms installed at Smoky Bay, Streaky Bay, and Port Neill.

There will be an opening for the mural to thank all sponsors and volunteers on Friday, 28 June, at noon.
