An alleged home break-in has resulted in the home’s owner being arrested, after firearms and a homemade explosive were found on his Port Pirie property.
Police responded to reports of a break-in in the early hours of Sunday morning, where the 32-year-old man alleged he had been struck on the head with a metal object.
The suspect allegedly stole his wallet containing cash and cards.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
During a search of the victim’s home, police allegedly located a homemade explosive, a pen gun, ammunition, four gel blasters, two expandable batons, a homemade taser, a trafficable amount of cannabis and other drug paraphernalia.
Police attended the hospital and arrested the homeowner, who was charged with possessing a firearm without a licence, possessing ammunition without a licence, three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon and three counts of contravening an intervention order.
He was refused police bail and will appear in Port Pirie Magistrates Court today.
